I can smell Christmas

Hi guys!
I have already started smelling Christmas oh.
Isn't it odd that November is almost over, and soon Christmas will soon be here and before you know it, it's January One 2015. Can somebody say whoop!whoop!.
2014! What a year. What a year indeed.
The year that....... Oh wait! Its not over yet so don't let me start soliloquies on 2014.
That will have to wait.
So what have we all been up to? I notice Harper has been off the grid? Guy!

Ehn ehn! Did anybody know that you can make pounded yam with food processor, hand mixers and even blender?
Do I hear a Nope? If so, lemme be the one to inform you (teeth shining in happiness and all) that you don't have to struggle with that mortar and pestle ever again.
For people like me wey no know how to pound yam even though I come from Ekiti, it's a no brainer.
I have to get that food processor as soon as possible.
My colleague (after yabbing me very well for not being traditional) told me he saw one at Mr Price for N61,000. Kilode. For that price it better cook the yam, pound it, cook the soup and serve it. Hehe.

So everything in my house is #countdown to my cousins wedding.
I am thinking of even going on Saturday sef cos the engagement and wedding is on saturday.
Going on Friday means being among family( Aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews) and their friends and answering silly questions on when you are doing your own or worse having to say "Amen" to their prayers of "tie naa a de" aka your own too will come. I don't know who asked them for prayers?
 Smh.
Going on Saturday means arriving at the party venue by which time nobody will even have my time.
The only snag to my plan is that darn 'environmental sanitation'. Who fixes a wedding on a day when you can't be on the road until 9am?

My cousin and my colleague. That's who.
And it's about 2 hours drive so Its either we leave like 5am that Saturday in order to beat the sanitation thingy ,leave after the sanitation ( in which case I better be prepared for lots of side eyes cos we are gonna miss the engagement) or go on Friday.

Another disadvantage to going on Friday is accommodation.
I have already made a reservation  (thankfully i didn't have to pay to reserve a  room) in the hotel where the reception is holding that my sister and I can sleep in, but I have visions of my cousins eyes shining in happiness when they realise I booked a room, meaning that when accommodation gets scarce ( and knowing my cheapskate aunt, it's sure to get scarce) they can all just say " Shebi it's  just two of you,we will manage now".

Anyone who knows Nigerian weddings knows that "managing" means ten of you sleeping in one room, some on the floor, and as many as possible on the bed under the guise of "Shebi it's just till morning".
I remember when two of my friends  got married in Lagos.
It was hot and unventilated.
You can imagine how hot Lagos can be and about ten people cramped in the room. I just jejely took my position on one third of the bed and didn't move an inch oh. I had no intention of sleeping on the floor cos of one friend who pretended to forget that she had more than ten friends and only one spare room in her house.

I plan to have fun sha. And to make sure no food trays pass me by.
Thanks for checking in. Muahhhhhh.

Passion and Careers

Hi guys,
Hope you all had a rocking weekend?
I have had this post on my mind for a long time but haven't quite found the time to write it.
It's about people who have made a career out of something they are passionate about.

There's no way it's easy to spend all those years at the University, reading a particular course, and then jettison it to follow your passion.
Such decisions often seem crazy and I can imagine the raised highbrows and incredulity that must have followed such pronouncements.
" You want to waste your law/medical degree to become a fashion designer/singer/photographer"?
I have always being a fan of people that damm the consequences and follow their passion.
Ok no spoilers.
Lemme get to it and talk about some people who have followed their dreams and made a career out of their passion.

First, is going to be a friend, Seyi Tubosun aka Seyi Turbo who dropped his Law Certificate by the side and followed his passion in photography.

I remember the time I met this awesome guy for the first time .
And I remember how my mouth opened and couldn't close when he told me he was a photographer. You mean 'Foto'? I asked myself.
Imagine my further surprise when he told me he was a lawyer.
It was very hard to wrap my mind around the fact that someone could go to school in Nigeria, spend like 6- 7 years reading law, and then say him ' no do' again.
But, when I saw his face, I saw passion, I saw love for the camera and the pictures he took.
He went on and on about the joys of photography and the art form. And by the time I finished looking through the pictures on his Ipad, ( it was a long road trip, so we had ample time) I had no doubts or questions again.
Source
Now when I see his logo on pictures, I just smile, but inwardly I am jumping up and down screaming "I know him,i know him" He is my friend.lol.
  I am so local abi.
Check out his Instagram page on http://instagram.com/seyiturbophotography for more pics. I didnt want to post others cos i didn't have permission.

I mentioned earlier that i have had this post in mind for a long time.
However watching Falz yesterday on an old episode of Tool's "The Juice" yesterday (he was the guest musician) motivated me to write it today.
Yep! My newest crushee Falz. Lawyer turned Musician.

His back story caught my attention.
He is a Lawyer turned Musician. He read law at the University of Reading. He is also the son of esteemed lawyer Femi Falana.
He is also cute and his music is not bad.

Here are excerpts from his interview with the Vanguard.

"My name is Folarin Falana but I am popularly known as Falz or Falz ‘The Bad Guy’. I am a musician, and an entertainer."
Q-"What is a Barrister doing, singing?"
A-"  A lot of people have asked me that and my reply is that when you are very passionate about something you must follow your heart. Music is my passion, that is why I am in music'.

Q-  "Given your father’s reputation, one would have  expected you to follow in his footsteps. Why tread another path?"

A-  "Initially, that was my intention. Looking at his life and how much he has achieved and the kind of name he has made for himself, I sincerely wanted to follow in his footsteps. I admired his monumental achievements, and his lifestyle. In fact that was why I went to study Law; to follow in his footsteps but along the line I just developed the love for music and music stole my heart and I decided to follow my heart."Note the magic words," follow my heart". You can read the full interview at http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/02/femi-falanas-son-falz-dumped-law-music/.

Thirdly, we have Omawumi Megbele.
Another lawyer turned award winning musician.
You people should not be jealousing us lawyers oh. hehe.  Although, on the flip side, there seem to be an awful lot of them changing careers.
She graduated from Ambrose Alli University with a Law degree. After graduating in 2005, she moved to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where she worked with her family's law firm called "O.S Megbele & Associates".  She is yet to attend law school but she has indicated interest in going to law school at a later date.
Read a full interview at  http://m.museke.com/node/4360.

Fourthly, there's Ewemade Emokape, the owner of Shakara Couture.
Ewemade in one of her creations
A lawyer and fashion designer extraordinarie.
She is also a blogger and her writing is so so amazing. She blogs at www.matildaschild.com .
On attainment of her Law degree from the University of Lagos, she sought to follow her passion and attended the London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins to be professionally trained in millinery, dress-making, fashion illustration and personal styling.
Check out her line at http://shakaracouture.com/
Read her post on her journey aptly titled 'Bata mi a dun ko ko ka"

Some other people who have followed their passion include Funke Akindele (Lawyer turned award wining actress), Dr Sid ( Doctor turned singer) and Funke Bucknor Obruthe (Lawyer turned events planner).
(Can you tell I am getting tired)

So my friends and peeps, That's it for passions and those who have made their passion their career.
It probably wasn't easy for them at the Beginning but they made it.
At least they have a success story. Not everyone who follows their dream always end with a success story oh.
But at least they are an  inspiration.

So! Any resignation letters imminent? Lol.
Abeg no resign yet oh.
Just be inspired and think it through. Be sure you actually have the talent to support that dream.

FYI. My passion is Books. Books! Books and writing. So law isn't a bad profession. The analysis and legal maneuvering is right up my alley. The talking! Not so much.
My dream is to own a book store. Yep! A big, big store where I fill with lots of books and sell.
That isn't weird right?
When I was younger I wanted to be a journalist and write, write, write. However that Jamb brochure didn't gimme a university where I could study journalism and while I gave a brief thought to studying at the "Nigerian Institute of Journalism", I soon discarded it cos I knew my dad would think it was a waste of potential. Besides I wasn't sure if they awarded degrees or not.
I think that if I hadn't read law at the university,i would have still gone back to read it as a second degree.

Hello! Hi!

Or should that be Wait! What! New post.
Hehehehe.
Sup guys!
How dey go dey go?

Hope you have all been awesome. I have been so busy, I haven't really found the time to relax and write anything.  It has just been Court this, Court that.

In fact ehn the number of times I have gone to court this month is more than I did last year sef.
Tomorrow morning again! I dey go another one.

So what have y'all been up to this last two weeks? Abi is it three?
Two weeks ago I was out of town to chill out and for some solitude.
Theres something about being away from it all that enables one to get some perspective.
The first thing I did was to call Inspector Duru and ask his opinion on reaching out to someone on her birthday. I am sure he must have been amazed, like kilode! Early monday morning. And out of the blue like that when I had pointedly said No to him all this while.

By the way his birthday was on the 12th. He is all of 23 years old now.
Duru! Agba ti n de oh. Lol.

Since I couldn't write a post on that day, lemme use this opportunity to wish him Happy Birthday in arrears. I am sure he is like" kilode Funmi? How many times you wan wish me happy birthday".
Bubba! As many times as possible cos you deserve it.
For being such a "ghen ghen", humble, optimistic, accommodating and peace loving person.
I think we all need an inspector in our lives to soften the hardness and cynicism that life brings our
way.

So what else have I been up to?

Hmmm! I decided to branch out of my yoruba cooking skills and step up my game.
Actually lemme not lie, it's not like I had an epiphany oh.
I ate 'Oha' soup during my trip. The last time I ate it was when I was in Abuja.
So when I got back, I just googled how to make it and got a recipe from Dooneys Kitchen which somehow made it all sound so easy. (Y'all should check out her website for more fabulous recipes and salivating pictures.
That was how I went on ingredients buying spree. Some of which I had never seen before in my entire life.
Luckily my boss assisted me to get it sha. She's not Yoruba and was excited to show me the ropes on how "her people "cook soup.
I also bought pepper soup ingredients so that I could make the ingredients myself as opposed to buying those ready made ones.
Those already ground ones always taste somehow to me.
My mum just gave me the side eye when she saw the ingredients. Like " I hope you are not marrying an ibo man you this girl".lol.
My sister was just happy that she was eating something different.
I made the oha soup ,and it was good although I used a little too much thickener, but the second time I made it,i aced it and made it in larger quantity and put the rest in the freezer.
I was just feeling like "national" cook.

My dad is so unadventurous when it comes to stuff like that. He prefers his efo riro and okra soup.
Shikena! No more no less.
I can't blame him sha. Most yoruba people I know like their regular yoruba soup.
Me! I am all for trying new things out.

I have also been in a baking/grilling mode. I just vex go buy electric oven cos the big gas one we have had for like 3 years now,  I haven't even been tempted to try it out.
I figured I could start with a smaller one. The downside is that it's electric only and when Nepa takes light , you are O-Y-O.

So basically, apart from work, that's what I have been up to.
Congrats to Esther and Eniwealth on their blog anniversaries (which happened sometime earlier).
To quote my dear Obiamaka," your inkwell shall never run dry in Jesus name".
Amen.

My cousin's wedding is in 2 weeks. My colleague is also getting married that same day, in the same town. Thank goodness cos I don't know how I would have divided myself into two to attend both if they were in 2 different towns.
Ok! lemme not lie, I would have preferred to go to my colleagues wedding.
Smaller, yes! More intimate, less crowded, less expensive  and more fun.She didn't even chose aso ebi.
Don't you just love nice friends like that? Easy on the pocket.lol

My cousin's wedding is however "a must" (to quote some Nigerians).
Because I am about four years older than he is. If somebody doesn't go like that they will feel you have bad belle or you are jealous or something.
Coupled with the four different aso ebi chosen for the event, of which I have three out the four ( his mum chose 2 lace material aso ebi oh, only for the dad, a member of Jonathan's cabinet to send free lace and ankara after my mum had paid her sister for the ones she chose) smh.
All of which I haven't even sewn yet cos  I don't even know which one to sew out of all 3.
The good thing is the two weddings both chose the colour blue.
Ain't I lucky? And in the same town? I can just stylishly leave my cousins venue and go to my colleagues own.

Lemme stop here for now.
Its your turn to gist me what you have been up to.
The good and the bad, I wanna hear it oh.

Shout out to Airnee. Thanks for the email.

Social media relationships and bias

Hi guys,
Happy new Month and week. I pray that sweet November lives up to its name for all of us.Amen.
For all of una that have to go to work, sorry oh!
I have a week off and I am just chilling.

This Monday, we are examining the bias some people have against love and friendship found via social media.

Now, most people have a very traditional view of where people find love. i.e Boy sees a fine girl at the mall, in college, or they are neighbors or colleagues, in a restaurant, introduced by friends or family, meet at events, in the bus, train, cab, (molue, keke marwa) hehe, he approaches her, she likes him, she agrees and they fall in love.
However this is the 21st century. And I have come to the realization that things are changing.
Love is now found in the oddest of places and even if not odd, at least via non traditional channels.

So let's take social media for instance. Some people still have a bias against what they term "facebook love". And even though I can't blame them it's a bit jarring.
When Mr Abuja came on his last "surprise " visit (otherwise called the one that broke the camels back hehe) He said his mum said "Hope it's not one of this facebook girls".

And I had to laugh. I have a facebook account,so do millions of other women.
Does that make me unmarriagable for her dear son and other mothers's dear sons  Or am I permitted to have a facebook account but finding love on it somehow makes me loose?
I am really puzzled.
And it's not just the older folks, I notice it among people in my age range too.
Somehow telling your friends that you met someone online is met with raised eye brows.
If you want to kill them just say you met him or her on a dating site.hehe.
Somehow even if they don't tell you, In most of their minds the relationship isn't going anywhere.
And if per chance shit happens like it almost always does even in real life, then they blame it on how you met them.

Now does how you meet someone determine how the relationship eventually end up?
A rough translation of a yoruba adage says that a lady you meet through dance will eventually dance out of the relationship.
So in short the adage coiners do not see anything good coming out of that scenario.lol.

All ye Nightclub goers. What say ye? Any experience in that regard?
Are all the people in a nightclub inherently undateable?
Aren't they the same people that still go to church and malls.
Same goes for Facebook,Twitter,Instagram and co.

Or could the fear some people have as regards to meeting people online be because they fear that social media bonds aren't as deep as those you have with people you met via traditional means.
Thus making it easy to cut off.
For instance one might be more inclined to make a relationship work if he/she was your family friend you have known for ages.

Note that this bias also applies to online friendships.
For some people, friendship with social media as its foundation isn't as solid or as strong as real life friendships.
However the truth is real life friends also mess up. A friend who will mess up will do so irrespective of how they met.
On the flip side, there are also friends in real life who are like sisters or brothers to you and who have been with you at key points in your life. Those ones who know you better than yourself.

Another fear is that a lot of people hide behind the facade of social media and it may be difficult to know their real selves because they can chose to have any kind of personality.
When you get to know them better or meet them in person the illusion shatters thereby revealing the real person underneath such facade.
Social media tends to be an avenue for people to hide their flaws.
Many a woman has been aghast to discover that the Adonis she has been chatting to online is actually just five feet tall and not as handsome or as charming in person.

Personally,I have met a number of people both male and female online and through social media.
In fact ehn before facebook I had friends I met through yahoo.
I am still friends with some of them while time and chance has separated me and the others.
But I didn't notice any difference in them as a result of how we met.
They are still the same person that they would have been had we met through friends or in a cab or in college.

It must be said that the spate of kidnappings, rape and murder that seem to happen nowadays through social media hookups don't seem to help the course of social media dating. A lot of desperate scammers, thieves  and unsavory characters seem to lurk in the deep alleys of social media seeking to lure some unlucky people to dire ends.
Most of them take advantage of the lure social media hook ups seem to hold for some men and women.

I read on a blog last week that a female student had been declared missing after having left a night club with a guy.
The Cynthia girl who was murdered is a facebook hook up with an unfortunate ending.
I am sure that other numerous cases of looting and rape as a result of on line hook ups abound that we haven't heard of.
However this doesn't still erase the fact that the internet, twitter, facebook and co have also done their fair share in linking a people together. Not only when it comes to love and casual hook ups but business, religion wise etc.
A lot of people are married now that met on social media.
They started an online relationship, met and saw what they liked (I assume),hit it off and now are married.
So Guys!

Have you ever dated someone you met through social media.
Would you marry someone you met through social media.
Do you have friends you met through social media?
How close are you to them? Is there any difference between how you feel about them and the real life ones?

Name something(s)

Hmmm!
Let's get naming.
The men should feel free to name something that they think women need to stop doing too.
And when we say "need", it means they absolutely need to stop. As in very essential. Lol
Happy weekend guys.
Mine is gonna be soooooo busy.
Shout out to @ Toinlicious Sup!
Kini soo?My town person of life. Hope you are doing great.

Monday Blues

So let me start by saying Hi to all you lovely people who seem to like/love this blog.
How has your weekend been?
For a while now I have just not been feeling like doing anything. As in anything. Except eating sha.
I wish I could hide under the covers all day and watch tv shows. I don't feel like talking to anyone.
I snap at anyone that calls me and rambles on and on. Abeg!i am not in the mood for long talk jare.
Thank God for work. Then I am forced to go somewhere.

Is anybody watching Blacklist? I watched the first episode of season 2 and heard one of the soldiers speaking my language. As in yoruba,  I was so thrilled ehn, Did anyone else catch that scene or am I just 'jobless'.

I got my voters card today.i look so different. Imagine! I did the registration in 2011 oh.That one they paid Corpers to do temporary work for them.
I didn't even know that I could still get it. See my face looking all babyish . Is it weird that I was fine then and I didn't even know it. lol.  I think I need to lose some weight. When I add weight the first place it shows is my face instead of it to show in some other places.
#idunnowhy#.
On the flip side if I lose weight people start asking if I am sick or recovering.
#Aprokotins#

So I got a mention/ review/ story/appearance  on T.Notes's Blog. (you will understand why it's either of all four when you read it  ).
Read the post and understand why I have been getting mad stats today.
Anyway I admire his writing style and prose. He is one of those few people who would make a good poet and novelist, and be critically acclaimed. Yep! (Me sef I am doing review).
You guys should go check it out and tell me what you think.

Ehehn!  Seeing as we are on the topic or not.
How do I get Mr Abuja to amicably back off?
We didn't date and I have only seen him like 3 times  but I am finding it so difficult to get him to understand that it ain't happening .
Imagine!he had the gall to go give my name to another colleague to pray about me.
If I saw him,i would probably have strangled him. Are you crazy? Of all the pastors in that Abuja it's our colleague he gave my name to. Unfortunately (for him) or fortunately( for me) it was someone I knew. That one too "prayed" and told me love doesn't have to come first.
Really! "Like" nko! Abi that one too doesn't have to feature.

Smh. I have given him enough hint to get him to back off but it's as if he is deaf.
And I am only playing nice cos we work in the same office albeit in different states.
"Stop calling me" he won't listen. "Give me space". No. Kilode?

This post sef is long. It was supposed to be short.

Ehm. What else? Lemme go think of what to post next o jare.

Inspector Duru! I hail una. Just chill ok. On all counts. And I did tell you I was gonna be reading it.Did you think I was lying?
Vira! I hope the town is now blue after it was painted red. Lol.
Harper! No comment. Wait! Have you seen Blacklist S2?Is it better than S1?
Esther! Enjoyment galore abi!
Shout out to Eniwealth, Abike(our latest BV),NaijaSingleGirl,Berry,Amaka, Niyi,Beautiful(another newbie BV),Zoe, Toinlicious,Lola Oseni,Jane and everybody else.
I haven't heard from Tee in a while. Sup! Tee.
My Opinion! I no forget you jare. It been a while. Is it you or me?
How those Court appearances?
Kai! I can't forget Obiamaka and Temidayo. 2 ladies I appreciate a lot.
I didn't forget anyone else that I didn't mention oh. I will add them up as soon as I remember.

Hmmm!

Pic Source
I am still pondering this oh.
Does falling for another person automatically mean you didn't love the first person enough?
What do you guys think?

Monday, 20 October 2014

"NO" NO! NO?

Hi guys.
How has your weekend been? Or should i say how was last week?
Chai! Its been almost a week oh.
In short It's exactly a week you saw me last. Make una no vex jare.
I know some people have missed and missed me. But i won't mention their names sha.
Oya!If you are happy to read this post and you know it clap your hands. hehe.

Today we are talking about "NO".
Basically when "NO" is ignored and sex in that situation amounts to rape because of lack of consent.
LOL.She's taken it personal Pic Source

Busy Monday

Hey guys! Another Monday don waka come oh.
Thank God it's almost over.
Didn't i just love last week monday and tuesday as per public holiday tins? This Monday is so different from last week. So stressful and busy. And I have another busy day tomorrow.
Source
Anyway let me shake off the moroseness.
How was your weekend and the previous sallah break for those of us in Naija.
I had mega fun ehn and ate so much meat. I don't think there was any part of the ram that I did not taste. I don't want to think about the calories.

I got a surprise visit from Mr Abuja. Imagine!
I hadn't been picking his calls for a while cos I just needed space.
I was more pissed than happy to be surprised.
With my already overpacked weekend that I was still wondering how to handle somebody thought that it was a great idea to come surprise me.As in not tell me until he arrived my town and just called me and expected me to drop everything.

I guess he didn't get the memo that i didn't like surprise visits.
Tell me you are coming biko so i can plan my day.
I almost didn't see him out of annoyance and to teach him not to travel miles without checking with the person you are going to see. What if i had traveled or had my own parole sef?
But my sister aka defender of the Universe was all "How can someone come all that way and you won't see him,try and be nice".
So I tried to be nice. Lol. And he came bearing gifts anyway.
But seriously I haven't even said yes yet but he hasn't let that deter him.
Now he is all "talk to my mum" "I have given her your number".
Lol.I just tire.

Did anybody watch the Big Brother Africa opening show last Sunday? I watched oh and promptly lost interest .
I dunno whether its work or that weird talent contest they did. That was how somebody said she is not watching but that i should help her scope out the fine boys there. Some people like fine boys.I wont mention names sha. But they know themselves.
Someone on my BBM  made it mad fun sha with our BBA ping-galore. Some of those voices trying to sing were atrocious mehn and it was fun dissing them and talking about height things. *cough*.
I didn't watch yesterday's eviction show oh. Who went home biko?

Did anyone miss the lindaikeji drama last week? If you did you missed ehn.Nigerwife is of the opinion that Mr Ayedee is in love with Linda. She sees love in the air. Read her post here http://www.nigerwifediary.blogspot.com/2014/10/linda-ikeji-should-marry-mr-aye-dee.html
What do you guys think?
I don't know if Linda can forgive him oh. She already said its an obsession.

Cut thy cloth according to thy size

Todays post was written by Naijasinglegirl who has so nicely given me permission to repost.
I read her posts a lot cos I love the way she writes and she is so humorous.
So here is the post.
In her words oh, not mine.

So yeah! I was looking forward to a nice relaxing Saturday! Away from everything… a place where they could pamper me…release some stress, make my feet soft, give me new set of nails and make my face more beautiful. YES! The beauty salon.
When it comes to switching hairdressers, I am fickle to a fault. I’ve never had a regular one because each of them usually leave me dissatisfied. Either Missy Eliot’s image is staring back at me on the mirror when I paid them to make me look like Rihanna’s twin or they are giving me a Bance’s haircut when I asked for Miley Cyrus’s haircut. That’s how incompetent they are.

Playas

Source

Don't wanna be a playa no more,
I think I found some one I can live my life for,
This girl. I'm yours, your mine for sure.
I've had enough of running wild.
I'm switchin up my whole life style.
I don't wanna live the way I used to.
I'm givin up the booty calls,
spendin C's at the Tata files.
No leavin with two or three girls to get me off.
All I need is one who's really down.
Someone to turn this playa's life around.

20 Random Facts About Me Tag

I was tagged by the ever fabulous Berry Dakara to do 20 random facts about me.

Soooooooooooooooo lets get started.

Pic Source
  1.   My phone is always on silent. Lets just say i have a lot of missed calls and irate callers who are always like "where did you put your phone". The only time it rings is when i am expecting a call and i don't want to miss it then i remove it from silent.
  2.  My favorite food is pasta. Macaroni, Spagetthi anything pasta like. In short you can kidnap me with it.
  3.  I love the colour green a lot. This blog was almost green and white. But it looked so much like i was advertising Naija Lotto or Aso Rock, i had to change it.
  4. I loooove to sleep a lot. As in i look forward to,even dream of sleeping. This days i am not getting enough sleep. Dunno why.
  5. I am a night person. If i could get a job where i could work at night and sleep all day, i would be very happy. Please don't suggest ashawo work oh.hehe.
  6.  I stopped wearing lipstick about three years ago.
  7.  I hate soft food. Yam,rice, beans, In short anything at all cooked except bread.I can't eat hard bread oh, and i cant eat soft food.
  8. I have a sweet tooth.I don't take alcohol cos of its bitterness. Give me fizzy drinks, juice anyday. My favorite drink is Fanta. (That is a 2 in 1 fact oh)
  9. I used to be called Prof. as a kid. i was so serious.
  10. I have seen some very cute guys on this Big Brother Africa that premiered yesterday. Ehn that's also part of random facts now.
  11.  I am very claustrophobic. I have a fear of suffocating. Thinking about it sef makes me hyperventilate. Those few seconds when i wear a cloth from the head up are torture for me.
  12. I hate cobwebs and spiders. Its not unusual to find me at 2am killing a spider. Oh and i hate wall geckos too.
  13. I love snacking more than i love real food. And if its sweet, all the better. My colleagues are always asking me "how don't you have jedi jedi"?
  14. I don't like sharing anything i want to eat. I prefer to buy yours for you but please leave mine alone. But i am sure you have already kinda figured that i like food seeing as i have talked about it like 4 times. Tis not my fault.
  15. Emmmmm. I don dey run out of random facts oh.  we never reach 20 ni? Ok. I can be very odd.  The things that bother most people don't bother me. On the flip side the things that don't bother them bother me.
  16.  I love to be alone. I am very comfortable being by myself.
  17.   I love to laugh. I dunno why. Ok I know. Will tell you later.
  18.  I wish i were taller jare. I dunno why my brother took my mums height instead of me. And I don't like wearing heels.
  19.  I don't like watching new movies. I wait for years before watching them. However i can gist somebody about what happened there oh.
  20. I love water. Seriously, i love to drink water. I can't eat without seeing water oh. The downside is when i drink a bottle before bed and i have to wake to pee. Not 9pm bed oh, 12 am midnight kind of bed. I then start wondering who sent me message oh.
  21. I read super fast ehn,a weird talent I developed in boarding school when I wanted to read a book badly and 30 girls were on a line to read it. I usually stylishly read it in between and it had to be fast.
  22. Finally! I am a righty oh but I taught myself to write with my left hand. Tis just very slow ni oh and not as fine as my normal right handed one.
  23. Lai Lai. E don do. I don pass 20 sef.
                                                                                                 THE END
Hmmmmmmmmm. So I remember that Friday when i saw that tag. You can read  it here .
I noticed some mad traffic from Berry's Blog and i was baffled. And I thought 'What could have happened'? That was how i ran  to her blog oh. Only for me to see that she had tagged me. I was so surprised cos i wasn't expecting it.
I mean, this is someone whose blog i love a lot,who linked me to a lot of sites that i love a lot,Naija HusbandMatildas ChildAyo,  Sisi Yemmie and others.
When you see me replying comments, you can blame it on Berry.  Na where i learn am be that.
In short i love her. So thanks Berry. Muaaaahhhhhhh.

Loooong Weekend

This Friday mehn!
In short this weekend ehn! E go shele. I have got parties on my mind oh.
I only hope I can leave that office before five cos the mad traffic that is going to happen today ehn! In fact from the sample I saw yesterday , today's own won't have part 2.

Pls who will help me beg Mtn to come and carry their ringtone oh.
To dash somebody credit they will not.
Imagine now giving me free caller tunes. Na by force? Did I tell them say I need caller tunes.
If it were better song now I won't mind.
Of all the songs in all the albums in this world ( who has watched cassablanca) guess what they dashed me?
777 is a number by Shina Peters.
Imagine oh. 777 ko 111 ni.

I called to complain they told me to cancel only for me to cancel and barely five minutes later I got a text that they have dashed me another one. I cancelled that one and same thing happened again.
I don tire. That is how they dashed a lot of people cos that was a lot of people's caller tunes.

Has anyone seen "Extant"?
The new Halle Berry tv show. That was how I went to a supermarket oh and one guy was like "can I see those dvds. I had like 3. And he said I should borrow him one.
Imagine. I sha gave him the "Extant" cos that "Ray Donovan"  wasn't going anywhere and he was like "So I need your contact to return it".
See scope oh. I was just like "Keep it". But the thing pain me sha. Now I have to get another one.

Speaking of TV shows, I am currently watching  "Hit the Floor". I was watching an episode on Sunday and I saw someone that looked like Omotola Jalade Ekeinde. I thought I was seeing double and had to back track before I remembered that I read somewhere that she had a cameo role with Akon.
She looked great and I felt happy.
Since I don dey watch all this TV series, na the first time I go see a Nollywood star be that oh.
Has anyone else seen that scene. Or am I watching too much tv?

Yay! Big Brother Africa is starting soon. I hope the people on my bbm love it sha cos I plan to do a lot of gbeborun and some" Did you see what she did" and " Did you hear that"?

So my cousin's wedding is fixed for November ending. That wedding was not gonna pass me by oh. I must go and do gbeborun and look at drama. But my colleague just picked a date for her wedding and it's the same date.
Now I am torn.
Drama vs Fun.
Family vs Friendship.
Like I said earlier, he (cousin)  is having a big wedding. But my colleague is having a small one.But it will be mad fun cos it would have been nice hanging out and traveling with my crew as in my padis in the office. Those guys can have fun ehn. It's always epic.
The good thing is that it's the same town. So maybe I can shuttle venues.

So tomorrow is a big day.
In short the weekend is a big one in my house. Lots of cooking. What with Sallah and all.
Also two awesome people I know, (in fact three if you count my boss) have their birthdays on the 4th of October. My brother and our one and only BV Harper.

So guys! What's your weekend going to be like?
Let's talk.

Equally or unequally yoked?

*singing in Wande Coal's voice*

Every new month I just get so excited that a new month has arrived and I am alive to witness it.

Really?

Lol! This spelling of "committed" get as e be
This na serious matter oh! Does looking and wanting someone else when you are in a relationship mean that you aren't committed?
Some women gaze at Idris Elba and appreciate God's work and fantasize. Yeah! I am calling my padi out and she knows who she is. I am not calling anybody's name oh.lol
Does that mean they don't love their guys?

How about all those Beyonce Bootilicious admiring guys?
Or is that ok just because they are celebrities and unattainable?
What if it's someone who passes by and your partner turns to look. Is that enough to flip out.
What do you guys think?
Me! i appreciate a good looking guy anytime anyday oh. And they appreciate me. lol
However i wont turn my head in an obvious manner to stare at a guy if i am out with another guy.
That's just disrespectful. If i have to look,i do so codedly.lol.
Once you are committed, Do you chewing gum your eyes?
Does desire automatically stop or it comes and it's something you can force away?

Shouldn't acting on such desire be the reason to flip out rather than the desire itself? hehehe.

Can desire be likened to coveting?
Lets talk.

So tomorrow is our Nigerian Independence day!
And a public holiday.
Isn't that just great. No work tomorrow.

Yesterday was rather quiet. Lol. I wanted it quiet abeg. I was too busy.

Merlot!  Last week would have been a good time to talk to you but I couldn't get your email.

Pressure to "born pikin"

Today, we are talking about our society and the pressure it heaps on couples who don't have kids yet for one reason or the other.

Now,in Africa it's rare not to want kids but in Obodo Oyinbo it happens quite often. I have yet to meet any  person in Nigeria though who doesn't want children. Yet i am sure they exist but are very coded about it.
Nigerians love kids.I don't know whether it's as a result of love for kids or societal conditioning to have children.
In Nigeria, God help any newly wedded couple especially the woman who doesn't have a protruding tummy six months from her marriage date cos people will not allow her to rest.
She may have a few moments of panic if little time has passed but if it's gets to a year, then she gets worried oh.

Love,Tribe and Nationality

So we have HARPER to thank for this topic.
Does anyone know his real name? Does anyone else want to know or is it just me? hehe.

Basically he asked me if tribe was a Criterion for friendship or love.
Source
Of course for me it isn't. And i am sure he knew that but just wanted to wahala me.
Unfortunately people sometimes have reservations and misconceptions about some tribes or nationalities that might colour our perceptions.

I remember my reaction when my brother pinged me two days ago and mentioned that he was considering bringing his oyinbo girlfriend home for a visit when he visited Naija next.

My Mother!

Who sat and watched my infant head,
When sleeping on my cradle bed,
And tears of sweet affection shed?
My mother!

Yay! My mum is a year older today.
My amazing mum who has always been there for me.
Always warm. Always loving. Never judging, Never Criticizing.
Till date she will always empty her purse and give out whatever is inside if you ask her for anything. Theres nothing she can't do for her kids.
When I was in boarding school she would make sure she traveled down with me and when I couldn't carry my box cos of my tiny size she would carry my big box on her head and I would squirm in embarrassment.
Which kain disgrace be that?lol.
She would ignore me,hiss and say "who is looking at me"?

She's put up with a lot of the stuff I do.
My craze and my drama.
Lots of mood swings and irritability.
Some things I do and say and can't really explain why.

I hurt her sometimes but she always forgives me.
Sometimes before I even apologized.
Even when I still repeat  it over and over.
She always forgives me
And tries to understand me.
Cos I can be  difficult.

She knows when to leave me alone!
When to interfere.
When to pray.
When to motivate me.
When to encourage me.

I love you a lot mum.
And I am happy that God has deemed it fit to add a year to your age today.
I thank God you are alive.
And I pray that you live to enjoy the fruits of your labour.

From your Troublesome but ehm Dear Daughter.

P.S. Today is also one of my colleague's birthday. Aaaaaand I love her a lot. (Are you happy now) lol

One of those days.

You know some days when everything just goes awry?
Yesterday was one of those days.
First of all I slept late cos I have  insomnia and usually I can't get to sleep until late.
Then robbers came to my street and basically I woke up suddenly.
The dogs were going crazy barking and those my crazy dogs, when they start barking frenzily like that,no one can sleep.
First of all no one knew which house exactly the robbers were, how many they were or if they were armed.
Someone sent a text with an unknown number that they just left his house  so we were all basically on tenterhooks.
Eventually I slept, but I had court to go to so I was up again.

Thank God Court was uneventful. No cough cough. Or to quote Zoe, no abosi cough.lol
Then someone bought 2k worth etisalat cards instead of glo and scratched it,which meant having to buy the glo cards all over  again.

Then there was an issue between someone I love a lot and i.
And yesterday, I knew I couldn't leave it any longer. I already left it too late.
I decided to plunge headlong and dig it all out.
Turns out I was right. Everything was not ok.
I wasn't surprised sha cos I know all my friends like the back of my hand.
And if there's the tiniest friction,i always know.
I am happy that there wasn't any denial.
I remember how my crush was all "nothing" "nothing".
That was  even worse. Cos in his case I didn't even do anything wrong but it still bothered me.
I tried and tried till he eventually relented and we are cool again.

I have tried to apologize sha as much as I can cos in this case I actually care.
Sometimes consciously or unconsciously I push the people that care about me  away.
I acted out cos I cared a little too much and it's people you love that can hurt you.
Anyway Pray with me that it all gets sorted out.

My sister is all "serves you right! I have told you to stop talking, writing, texting, emailing, phoning, when you are in one of your moods cos u do crazy stuff then."
That one! She is of no help whatsoever. lol.

Now it's midnight and I just remembered I didn't have  lunch or dinner.
Imagine! Make I just go sleep abeg.
This dogs are barking again. They should let somebody sleep jare.

So yep I had a shitty day. I hope I don't sound too morose. I had some gists but I have forgotten what I wanted to say sef.
The only good thing about the day was that despite the circumstances  I spoke to some  amazing people.
And guess who I just added on my bbm? You will never guess. Cold and hot at the same time. Lol.

Marriage List of Life

I came across this post on the very funny Zoe's blog last week and i decided to share with y'all cos i am so nice.hehe.
Actually lemme not lie,its not because i am nice, (but i am nice oh) i just want y'all to read it cos i still cant believe my eyes.
So here is the post.

hmmmmmm……so one of my handsome uncles just arrived Nigeria last 4 weeks from the U.S where he studied engineering and now works with a big company that has a branch right here in the big city of Lagos…….*eyebrow raised*…..ya…..am talking about my uncle from obodo oyinbo….hehehhe.

3 Saturdays ago I went to my family house to chill for the week end and also to eat enough good food since na only garri dey for my house. When I got home I meet my mum all dressed up for a party, I quickly asked her where she was going and she replied saying, “remember Seun that just got back from US nah”, I nodded like an agama lizard, she continued, “we are going to do his introduction and collect marriage list from that girl’s family he meet on facebook” anyways I decided to follow her because this kind thing can never pass me.

Oops!

This Son na FFO. For food only Source

Has this ever happened to any of you guys? Mistakenly sending what's meant for the eyes of one person to another person?
Some time ago,i was chatting with a guy I liked and my sister simultaneously on bbm.
And meanwhile I was gisting with  my sister and also trying to scope some money from her cos she just got some money.
Pic Source
At one point I lost track and sent all the " come and give me money" to the guy.
I was so mortified ehn! Shame catch me.
I sharply explained and munched all d previous chats and sent to him so he would know I was chatting with someone else and wouldn't think I was already hitting him up for money after just two days of meeting. lol.

He was like "Noooo! You don't have to".
Ehn! Let me Abeg.

Imagine if I had nude pics on my phone (I Don't) and I mistakenly sent those. Hehe. He would probably feel like Harper does when his "people" send them to him. That I sent it on purpose. Hehe.
Thank God it wasn't something as bad as that or mistakenly sending your nude pic to your dad.
I go just faint be that. And not return home forever. lol.

Another time, my Ex and I were still dating and his now sister in law (she was still dating his brother then) could do gbeborun for Africa. She took one kind of liking to me and always took it upon herself to tell me of any girl she saw with him, near him, heard about or hanging out him.
The thing was I already knew about them most times as we normally gisted about stuff like that, guys asking me out or women that liked him.
And If you had cause to ask him straight, he wouldn't lie.
One day she called me again with "info" and I texted "Ex" in the vein of 'madam aproko has come again with her www.com information. I dunno why she doesn't ever mind her business. She won't face her own business, she will be giving me stupid info that I never asked for '

Guess who my absent minded self sent the text to?
The girl herself. I dunno how I managed to explain that Eish ehn. There was a lot of em....erm.....actually......em.
She never sent me 'info' again.lol

Let's hear from you.
Have you ever had an Oops moment in any sort of way or manner?
Said something you shouldn't have or sent a text to the wrong person?
Let's Talk.

#Stolen

Its really weird when I hear that someone " stole my man/husband "
Like really?
How is that even possible. A fully grown man! Stolen! Like a cow or sheep!
Even my dog sef will protest if it discovers that it is being stolen.
The only way it won't protest is if it knows the person "stealing" it or it wanted to be stolen in the first place then it wouldn't protest loudly by barking or biting the "stealer".
You get my drift?
You read some twitter/facebook/instagram feeds and the girl or woman is threatening acid or brimstone on the lady that "stole her man". In public oh! One would think they would at least do that in private or something.
Some women would even fight and tear each others clothes and  call each other unprintable names.
And you know what I usually wonder?
Was the man that devoid of free will that he could just be stolen like that. Afterall he knew he had a wife or girlfriend and he knowingly chose to go with the "stealer". And instead of some women to count their losses they feel that disgracing the 'stealer' is the way to go.
Smh.

Whatsup?

Boy! Am I tired?
We have an office party later today  and we had to go get gifts for our intern who is 18 years old.

You know how hard shopping can be when you are shopping for yourself, then imagine five of you delegated to shop for an 18 year old girl at an expensive mall, with no idea of what to buy and also on a budget.
We did so much wakabout ehn. I didn't get home until late yesterday.
One of us sees a cute thing, two people like it, another guy is like No! This isn't cute.
I dunno why we even brought the two guys along.
You see Transparent tops and they are like "You want her mum to think we want to spoil her daughter?" never mind that all her tops seem to be made of chiffon.
You see an appliance and the guys are like "NO! she isn't an old woman oh".
You see Watches and they are like "NO! It has to be expensive and we can't buy just one thing".
You see perfumes and they say "NO!"

You get the picture? We didn't leave there until 7pm.And at that point i didn't care what we bought again or whether she already had it or whether it sized her or what her mother thought?

The only good thing about all of it is that there is a party.lol
